Kansas City Outranks NYC In Murder!!!

This KOCH bros. website is not only showing its age but also a po'dunk understanding of American cities. Still, it's entertaining and that's why we link . . .

KC Seven Times More Lethal in 2016 than NYC

Not so fun fact . . .

"In 2016 New York City’s 8.5 million people committed 330 homicides. Kansas City’s 450,000 committed 127. The short of it is this: in Kansas City you were seven times more likely to be murdered than you were in New York City.

"New York City may have had nearly three times as many homicides as Kansas City, but it had more than twenty times as many police officers to handle those killings. In sum, the NYPD had seven times more officers per homicide than the KCPD."

The clandestine argument for more police is clever but the crime-ridden conception of NYC dates back to the 80s and doesn't realize that the Island of Manhattan has been a playground for the upwardly mobile since the cast of Friends (to cite another dated reference) and their followers gentrified everything 20 years ago . . . The same goes for Brooklyn. Real estate prices reflect as much.

Still, there's no denying that the uptick in local violence is scary and while the NYC center of the Universe has worked to effectively curb their crime problem . . . In KCMO there isn't even a new plan under discussion.

Developing . . .
