KANSAS CITY SATURDAY NIGHT PLAYLIST!!! CELEBRATE YEAR OF THE COCK @ TKC!!!

There are a few news items we're considering right now but they can wait till the morning.

Mostly it's social media gamesmanship, habitual Kansas City violence and people angling for cash.

Now, given the current immigration crackdown, it's important to celebrate diversity and mark the Chinese New Year that's being celebrated throughout the world and by some here in town.

A few examples:

CS Monitor: Lunar New Year triggers world's largest human migration

AU: Chinese head home with Trump chickens to crow in the new year

WaPo: Photos of Chinese Lunar New Year celebrations around the world

It's actually the year of the "Fire Rooster" for people who really want to get into the gibberish on Chinese restaurant place settings.

Still, this time marker is important if only to remind ourselves that there's a big world past the antics of this cowtown and even beyond upcoming border walls.

Also, as Nativism disguised as populism rises throughout the U.S., others focus on competition in the global marketplace:

Wall Street Journal: China Says Prepared to Lead Global Economy if Necessary

While reading economic tea leaves is often difficult, it doesn't take a genius to realize that trade wars are seldom productive. Or at the very least, there are very real consequences on both sides the equation amid financial slap-fighting across the planet which usually only results in higher prices & lower wages for broke-ass American workers.

However, this post isn't about fear but celebration of the fire rooster new year that we'll mark with these clips:

First up, a bit of satire that's funny but also shouldn't be taken at face value inasmuch as it serves to parody rape culture that seems to abound among the more angry keyboard warriors who CLAIM they elected the new Prez via memes but probably only served to give Alex Jones some well-deserved access to the White House.

And then a classic tune performed by an enduring global sensation and the miracle of modern science that keeps Keith Richards alive and well . . .

Finally, a favorite clip regarding the last U.S. crusade on the Asian continent . . .

Hopefully, more for the morning update in just a bit for now, as always, thanks for reading this week and have a safe and fun Saturday night.
