Urban Institute: HUD’s failure to invest in tech is costing taxpayers money

The Federal Housing Administration insured too many mortgages in 2016, potentially costing taxpayers about $41 million. But this didn't have to happen. If HUD had been granted to funding it needed to upgrade its 30-year-old IT database, things would have turned out much differently.
