TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY PASSES MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE!!!



Looming threats to crackdown on municipal minimum wage increases from the Missouri legislature did not dissuade City Council today in a historic vote that approved the increase of the local minimum wage.

170193: Enacting a new Article IV, Chapter 38, Code of Ordinances, entitled “Minimum Wage” to establish a municipal minimum wage of $8.50 per hour on September 18, 2017, to increase that municipal minimum wage to $13.00 per hour by January 1, 2023, to be increased or decreased by the cost of living January 1, 2024 and each year thereafter; and recognizing this ordinance as having an accelerated effective date.

Meanwhile, the Missouri House just approved a bill blocking STL, KC and any other towns in Missouri from raising the minimum wage.

Long story short . . . This is another court fight coming up in Missouri with opponents of the minimum wage increase already confronting a previous defeat in the state Supreme Court.
