TKC TOLD YOU SO!!! COUNCILMAN QUINTON LUCAS CHAMPIONS HISTORIC NORTHEAST DESTRUCTION FOR KANSAS CITY UNIVERSITY URBAN FORTRESS!!!

Kansas City's fastest rising political star and a front runner for the Mayor's job has recently encountered a bit of criticism over his support of a controversial project that was rammed through a Council Committee today.

Remember that our blog community broke the news first regarding the urban fortress that will displace a great many broke-ass residents and demolish historic structures . . .

MSM follow-up:

The Kansas City planning and zoning committee Wednesday approved the $75 million expansion proposal from Kansas City University.

Now, Councilman Lucas defends this project by repeating this mantra: "The neighborhood association in which the project actually sits. They support the KCU plan now."

The problem with that . . . The neighborhood association isn't the only interest at play here and residents throughout this area have expressed their opposition to a project that was QUICKLY PUT ON THE DOCKET AND RAMMED THROUGH AT BREAK-NECK SPEED. Here's a social media note that was widely circulated and reveals a great deal of grassroots resistance.

In fairness, at the very least and way beyond the call of duty, Councilman Lucas has addressed these neighborhood concerns via Twitter and made his position clear. Most local politicos simply don't like to any questions and quickly tune out any criticism.

We don't want criticize Councilman Lucas for being forthright, instead we'd simply want to inform voters and residents how City Hall really works.

Reality . . . Kansas City politicos don't listen to people, they only listen special interests, voting blocs and large groups of constituents. Truth be told, nobody has time to address one concern after the next and if there is a guide for the future here . . . It's that locals MUST organize if they want to make their voices heard at the civic level.

Now, from what we can tell there is a great deal of resistance to this plan and we haven't heard the last of it. But for now, better and before than any other media outlet . . . We wanted to explain to Kansas City voters how the game is played by one of the best and brightest - Councilman Lucas.

Developing . . .
