Whilst political and voter support seems to favor Prez Trump and his immigration crackdown efforts, faith communities across the nation are stepping up to challenge this sentiment by way of openly subverting current laws that many consider unjust.
Evidence of this move . . .
AOL: Churches are becoming safe havens for undocumented immigrants
BuzzFeed: Churches Are Readying Homes And Underground Railroads To Hide Immigrants From Deportation Under Trump
MIC: Churches across US prepare to provide sanctuary to immigrants under Donald Trump
Remember that a few weeks ago there was an church immigration raid scare that's still inspiring fear among immigrant communities as KANSAS CITY INSIDERS report lighter attendance in urban core communities which persists despite assurances from authorities.
Now, here's how it applies to Kansas City . . .
- More than just pious talk, Kansas City faith leaders are personally invested in this struggle given that more than a few local clerics are, in fact, undocumented and face the threat of deportation like many in their congregations.
- Suburban faith community support for the undocumented undermines Conservative politics in middle-class enclaves. In Red State Johnson County, Kansas there are at least a half a dozen groups openly working to place refugees and many illegal/undocumented workers . . . Surprisingly, these efforts are widely supported by nearby residents and have been OFF LIMITS to Conservative attack . . .
- Which brings us to the most important point . . . THE GOP ALWAYS LOSES THE ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION FIGHT WHEN THEY START TAKING ON CHURCHES . . . It's just not a good look to attack people of faith according to (ironically) well-documented polling numbers and basic human decency.
Which brings us to a moment of contemplation . . .
WILL PREZ TRUMP SUPPORTERS BACK DOWN FROM FAITH COMMUNITY DEFIANCE AGAINST UPCOMING IMMIGRATION CRACKDOWNS OR IS SUPPORT FOR THE NEW ADMINISTRATION STRONGER THAN THE POWER OF PRAYER???
You decide . . .
