TKC TOLD YOU SO!!! KANSAS CITY TOY TRAIN STREETCAR SUFFERS NEARLY 50% RIDERSHIP PLUNGE DURING DECEMBER!!!
Kansas City Streetcar ridership of 128,155 in December was the worst yet for the toy train . . .
Of course our blog community was FIRST PUT PUBLISH THE DOWNWARD TREND LINE AND BREAK THE NEWS, sadly local mainstream media is yet to followup on this tragic effort . . .
Better than reblogging numbers from the streetcar authority. Here's more fact checking from KICK-ASS KANSAS CITY INSIDERS keeping track of this tragedy in real time.
KC Streetcar has announced their ridership calculations for the year. Note that they count “Unlinked Passenger Trips” (UPT). Which means they count passengers getting on and getting off. Their “ridership” numbers need to be divided by two to accurately reflect the number of passengers. So they are claiming 2,000 passengers a day.
Their “ridership” of 128,155 in December was the lowest monthly total yet and the fifth straight monthly decline since July’s high of 233,683.
Accordingly, if we're talking streetcar expansion than the HORRIFIC RIDERSHIP DROP-OFF needs to be part of the conversation.
Developing . . .
