TKC QUESTION TONIGHT: IS BLUE RIDGE BLVD KANSAS CITY'S NEW TROOST AVE?!?!

Over the past 24 hours there has been an EPIC spate of violence in South Kansas City.

Roundup:

Fox4: One hurt in early morning shooting at KCMO apartment complex - Officers responded to the Stonewood Apartments near 87th and Blue Ridge just before 2 a.m.

KCTV5: 1 killed, 2 injured in shootings on Blue Ridge Boulevard

While Internets keyboard warriors and TV pundits argue about immigration policy over which they have little to no understanding or control . . . Closer to home the migration of rising violence should be a greater concern.

And this brings us to our question tonight . . .

IS BLUE RIDGE THE NEW TROOST DIVIDING LING FOR KANSAS CITY???

Points for consideration . . .

Back when Troost was really a dividing line, downtown had a far greater living and working population than it does even today.

The African-American community has migrated out South and the Blue Ridge line of demarcation might also translate to those escaping urban core violence by way of Raytown, Blue Springs and even desperate moves to the cultural wasteland called Grandview.

The metaphor might not entirely play out like the Troost diving line but the point is that Troost Ave. was once a bustling, diverse and vibrant part of Kansas City until it became a symbol of segregation, poverty and ultimately urban core abandonment . . .

In much the same way Blue Ridge now symbolizes the struggle of the inner-suburbs and social ills, gunfire and divisive politics following the working class across the metro.

You decide . . .
