TKC MUST READ!!! EL BRYAN CONSIDERS SO-CALLED 'MUSLIM BAN' & KANSAS CITY DEMOCRATIC PARTY ELITE OUTRAGE!!!

Bryan Stalder is one of the most talented and thoughtful people working in Kansas City today and also occasionally dabbling into politics in between community volunteering.

Today he offers AN IMPORTANT FACT CHECK for so much local fear about immigration and airports.

His words are well-researched, carefully considered and offer a much more reasoned perspective than what we find in most reporting on the topic.

Take a look:

El Bryan Considers "Muslim Ban" And Congressman Cleaver

Congressman Cleaver is now using the term "Muslim Ban," which is a loaded term, and inaccurate. We have been fed the narrative that anything short of diplomatic language can be used to radicalize and recruit Muslims against us. To the extent that this is true, we should expect more out of our elected leaders and journalists.

Why not use the term "temporary travel restrictions"? It sounds like Democrats and the media are politicizing a delicate issue, and frankly, it's shameful because Congressman Cleaver voted for House Resolution 158, more commonly know as the Visa Waiver Program Improvement and Terrorist Travel Prevention Act of 2015.

This bill placed travel restrictions on anyone who had visited these seven countries within the past five years and was the template for Trump's *temporary* executive order.

I'm a conservative *and* I live in KC's urban core *because* I care deeply about helping our immigrant and refugee population. I didn't have an epiphany over the weekend like most folks spouting outrage on the internet. Many are familiar with my community service and I've attached a cartoon I published about his issue in 2015 when Barack Obama was president. I don't support this Executive order and I voted for Congressman Cleaver, but I expect better representation from him. Anyone using the term Muslim Ban should be ashamed, because this executive order does not ban all Muslims, it is temporary, and it is based off of a bill that Barack Obama signed.

Folks, including our Congressman, are being manipulated by the media, and this is disappointing. The outrage over this is fueled by folks who are still upset by the election results and struggling to accept reality rather than people who are actually committed to investing the time to make a difference.

Northeast is a diverse community that welcomes all people, and we should focus on how we can do better, not pointing fingers and tearing one another down because it is trending in specific media circles.
