TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! TRANSIT ACTIVIST CLAY CHASTAIN LAUNCHES LAWSUITS AGAINST TOY TRAIN LEGAL TEAM AND KANSAS CITY MAYOR SLY IN STREETCAR EXPANSION SALVO!!!
Clay Chastain isn't kidding around about his latest streetcar expansion plan and early warning of two lawsuits aimed at City Hall confirms his commitment to petition efforts.
To wit . . .
FIRST ON TKC: THE LATEST PRESSER FROM ACTIVIST CLAY CHASTAIN TOUTS A DOUBLE TROUBLE LEGAL FIRST STRIKE AGAINST LIGHT RAIL OPPONENTS IN ORDER TO GIVE HIS STREETCAR PLAN A FAIR SHOT!!!
Nowadays and amid the era of Mayor Sly, just about every major voter effort involves legal action and this petition battle threatens to derail the competing streetcar expansion effort in court. Checkit:
Clay Chastain: New streetcar initiative declared valid and lawsuits filed against Mayor James, former City Attorney Geary, and Jeff Carey
Working off the momentum of the 2016 light rail election (59 to 41%) KC voters have signed in support of another innovative rail-based petition mandating the city place it before CITYWIDE voters at the "next regularly scheduled election." (April 4, 2017)
The city deliberately foiled the last 3 light rail initiatives from the people (2006, 2011, 2016) by falsely and unilaterally (without expert testimony to back up their false allegations) pronouncing them to the community as "unworkable," "unconstitutional," and "illegal," respectively.
Consequently, none of these initiatives were given a fair shot because the city poisoned the light rail election well.
In order to head off the city's expected hostility to this streetcar initiative and for wrongful doing involving the last two light rail initiatives, two complaints have been filled in circuit court against...
(1) Mayor Sly James for malfeasance.
(2) Former City Attorney Bill Geary for malfeasance and private attorney Jeff Carey for malpractice.
These three individuals deserved to be sued for the dark roles each played in undermining the 2014 and / or 2016 light rail elections, humiliating Clay Chastain and violating the public trust.
Let these two lawsuits be noted by the new city council and the new city attorney before they too think about acting in bad faith against a valid initiative from the people.
All we want is for public officials to leave valid initiatives from the people alone, place them before the voters as mandated by law and then let the voters decide.
If we are given this kind of fair shot by the city and we still lose, only then will I go away.
If we win, then the city must do its best to implement this capital improvement plan designed to revive Kansas City around what once made it great in the past - a first class rail-based public transportation system.
Clay Chastain... leader and designer of the new petition plan to build a citywide expansion of the city's 2.2 mile downtown streetcar line and transform it into a more citywide, efficient, convenient, useful, sustainable and rapid rail system that operates in transit greenways separated from vehicular traffic.
