TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! AMID HISTORIC KANSAS CITY BLOODSHED: AIM4PEACE EARNS ANOTHER $600K!!!

Behind the scenes of historic Kansas City violence, here's another look at the cost of the carnage that's not as important as the human toll but still reveals an ongoing investment in the fight against crime . . .

Ordinance #160977: Appropriating $612,000.00 into the Governmental Grant Fund; and accepting and approving a $612,000.00 grant award amendment from the U.S. Department of Justice, to provide funding to the Aim4Peace Program; and designating requisitioning authority.

Remember that at the outset of last year this group earned more than a million bucks of Federal funding so this cash award actually represents a decrease in resources.

There has been criticism of Aim4Peace for quite some time and their stats about preventing violence are pseudoscience at best BUT even during one of the most violent years in recent Kansas City history, new community-based and City Hall supported anti-violence initiatives have FAILED to take hold. . . . For the most part, with an exception of a disappointing Mayor's Task Force Against Violence, local politicos have ignored the spate of local killing compared with a far more active economic development agenda. And so, this scaled back funding seemingly hopes to curb the local homicide trend with less money and without a new plan. Will it work?

You decide . . .
