New York Times: Obama Commutes Bulk of Chelsea Manning's Sentence
NPR: Her prison sentence has been shortened to expire on May 17, 2017, according to a statement from the White House.
The Verge: While serving as an intelligence analyst in Iraq, Manning leaked more than 700,000 documents to WikiLeaks, including video of a 2007 airstrike in Baghdad that killed two Reuters employees. In 2013, Manning was sentenced to 35 years in prison for her role in the leak and has been held at the US Disciplinary Barracks at Fort Leavenworth for the past three years.
In the final analysis, this ethics of this case confound both Conservatives and the left.
Democratic Party loyalists raging against Prez-Elect Trump's Russian connections can't really play security hawks if they're willing to let give another operative of WikiLeaks a pass.
On the other side of the coin, Conservatives must stipulate the future Prez Trump was basically put into office by the same website which shared confidential info that was hacked or obtained illegally in much the same way Ms. Manning shared her dox.
In the meantime . . . It's still hard to figure out what the U.S. accomplished in Iraq other than getting rid of a two-bit dictator that was a former ally . . . And, of course, leaving a complete mess and farm system for terrorists in the aftermath.
