
For more than a year Hyde Park has endured an EPIC crime spree that includes home invasions, violent teen flash mobs and near riot conditions on some weekends. The response from local elected leaders and authorities hasn't seemed to impress these residents.
So they're taking matters into their own hands.

Ruth Schmidt, who is helping organize the effort, said the group is looking at several different options which include hiring security, purchasing surveillance cameras or volunteering to patrol the neighborhood themselves . . ."
