The greatest political achievement of the Jackson County Exec thus far has been his name recognition from his long-ago baseball glory days. His supporters tout EPIC approval ratings from mostly disinterested voters.

Newsies might claim that he won the recent budget battle but he did it at the cost of alienating most of his colleagues behind the scenes . . .

Money line . . .
"Jackson County Executive Frank White Jr. has approved the 2017 budget of $310.34 million that a divided County Legislature adopted two weeks ago despite his concerns about added spending. But White also is telling legislators they have to cut $500,000 in spending that the county counselor's office says is out of line with the County Code . . ."
And while COMBAT slush fund slap-fighting is typical for the County . . . What was uncommon was the Courthouse bickering and the Exec's "hand's off" strategy that didn't attempt to form a consensus before the deadline.
To be fair . . . The far less popular Legislature never really liked Exec Frank much as he leapfrogged into the top job . . . And now, after a tense budget battle, there's even more reason for these politicos to work against him.
