TKC SATURDAY NIGHT PLAYLIST!!! FEAR THE PHONY FIGHT OVER FAKE NEWS!!!
Consideration of "journalism" is perfect fodder for Saturday night when all of the cool people are out having a good time and the frustrated middle-aged and seniors sit at home and agonize over the fate of world while enjoying takeout.
Accordingly, and just to make this quick because video games are more fun and productive then defending against the trolling of out of work small town "journalists" . . .
THE FAKE NEWS DEBATE IS NOTHING MORE THAN PHONY PARTISAN POSTURING AS CORRUPT MAINSTREAM MEDIA LOSES ITS INFLUENCE!!!
Think about it . . . A cyber-bully is soon to be the Commander-in-Chief. The reaction from pundits, a few Democratic Party loyalists and MSM dweebs fearing for their cushy jobs is a clandestine attack on Independent news, satire and social media outlets. And all of this high-brown media debating occurs while we've all had online friends who don't know the difference betwixt an article from The Onion vs. a think piece from The Atlantic or the latest screed from The Blaze.
Far better than we explain it, check Cenk Uygur from The Young Turks, an avowed progressive, promising to defend Conservative news outlets from a Hillary Clinton threat to enact legislation regulating online content and so-called fake news:
Locally, what we've seen from Kansas City mainstream media is the last remaining dead tree newspaper pundits desperation to hold back, deride and dismiss a new generation of online reporting, writing and social media sharing in an attempt to cling to their phony "credibility" and shut down alternative voices. This isn't just about TKC . . . We're kinda disappointed witnessing the way so many unemployed newspaper people have THUGGED their way onto community radio station KCUR and attempted to enforce their views on listeners in much the same way the KCPT has become a government funded mouthpiece for the KCMO McClatchy media corporation by way of Dave Helling talking over everybody and announcing his opinion with an authoritative air of condescension just because he's tall. (Half-kidding here, we admire all of the talking points Helling filters as most of this town's political news is thrown on his desk first and so many journalists simply take stuff he's too busy to handle . . . But I digress . . .)
Anyhoo . . . The Internets and the meatspace has always been home hoaxes, hype and contrary opinions.
Remember when everybody thought Terence Trent D'arby was gonna be as big as Michael Jackson and Prince at the tail end of the 80s?
More to the point . . . Over the past few weeks we've found the "fake news" tag is simply thrown around by dweebs who disagree with any opinions, writing or reporting that doesn't fit their narrow wold view . . . Let's not forget that ANYBODY CAN DO JOURNALISM and so-called professionals are often outgunned by their lesser news organizations without so much precious "credibility" but still offering verifiable reporting.
Example . . . It took The Enquirer to reveal the fact that Sen. John Edwards was kind of a sleaze.
Never forget that everybody loves dirty laundry . . .
Finally, the "fake news" meme is merely a political catchphrase given most people couldn't care less about current affairs, world events or their local government and would much rather watch far more highly rated paparazzi celebrity coverage. Translation: Anderson Cooper would kill to have the kind of influence that TMZ exerts.
And so . . . We want out remind our blog community that while divisive slap fighting in the news/political game abounds . . . The most important opinion online is the one which readers create for themselves.
As always, thanks for reading this week and have a safe and fun Saturday night.
