TKC QUESTION: WILL FREE COATS SOLVE KANSAS CITY HOBO CRIME CRISIS?!?!

Given that the schmaltzy and painfully saccharine season of holiday sentiment is nearly complete . . . And with respect to the ghost of Emmet Kelly  . . . Let's take a look at an important issue for the cold, hard winter ahead. Fact: Increasingly violent and drug addicted hobos pose a clear and present danger to newbie upscale downtown interlopers and the rampant gentrification that's committed to clearing out low income residents near the downtown loop.

Just a couple of examples . . . Hobos violence recently endangered local police and, so we don't seem cruel, don't forget that hobos are often subjected to a great man dangers of rough streets themselves. And don't forget so many KANSAS CITY HOBO CAMPS that constantly need to be cleared out and usually contain some really nasty drugs, weapons and probably all the spare change stolen after nearly every downtown car window smashing . . .

But let's dig just a bit deeper . . .

An advocacy organization notes that this wicked little town is rather naughty when it comes to hobos, John Rambo or any suspected vagrant passing through . . .

"In Kansas City, the Homeless Services Coalition found that the police on the street frequently stopped homeless people, because “they looked suspicious.” In addition, many homeless individuals reported being verbally or physically abused by police officials. One homeless man commented, “They have pushed me against the police car, searched my coat, kicked me, and knocked me to the ground.” There are several laws in Kansas City associated with homelessness, which prohibit aggressive begging, loitering, trespassing, and camping."

Worse still, let's not forget that the current City Manager AND more than a few members of the Council wanted to make it illegal to help hobos by throwing them a sandwich.

Again, this time of year brings about a great deal of sympathy for those lovable scamps trolling around the urban core when they aren't using the public library or Starbucks in order to wash up and wait around for most of the day.

Here's a clip dedicated to keeping hobos warm in Kansas City with hand-me-down coats even though man-made global warming made sure the temperatures were above 50 degrees for most of the daylight hours . . .

To wit . . .

SHOULD WE CONFRONT THE GROWING INFLUX OF DANGEROUS HOBOS ON KANSAS CITY STREETS WITH CHARITY OR POLICE CRACKDOWNS?!?!

You decide . . .
