TKC MUST SEE!!! KANSAS CITY ANIMAL RIGHTS ACTIVISTS PROTEST ON THE PLAZA TONIGHT AND TOUT UPCOMING ORDINANCE TO BAN HORSE CARRIAGE RIDES!!!

On a cold December night, Kansas City animal rights activists seemed exceptionally committed to ending the Country Club Plaza horse carriage ride tradition that many consider cruel.

A crowd of about two dozen protesters at its peek held signs and talked to local newsies about their cause and opposition to the longstanding Country Club Plaza tradition.

Everybody seemed in a good mood and it wasn't an angry protest in the least as protesters and purveyors of the carriage stood next to each other in the cold.

Fun fact for those who don't already know . . .

ACTIVISTS SAID THAT THEY'RE WORKING WITH COUNCIL LADY THERESA LOAR TO DRAFT LEGISLATION CALLING FOR A BAN ON PLAZA HORSE CARRIAGE RIDES!!!

There are similar bans in other cities but this legislative move not only comes after an injury crash last week left a horse trapped beneath the carriage and hurt riders but also relates to an animal shelter which leads the upcoming $800 MILLION General Obligation vote desperately advocated by City Hall.

And so . . . While the protesters seem earnest in their request . . . The bigger picture tonight is that animal rights is part of the argument to keep City Hall funded for the sake of cute animals that everybody loves.

We'll have more images and video from the scene tomorrow but this evening we wanted to send a shout out to newsies, protesters and horses who were out in the cold tonight.

Developing . . .
