TKC EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS!!! FOLLOW-UP FACT CHECK: READ THE TKC QUICK E-MAIL EXCHANGE WITH UMKC NEWSIE IN TRAINING ESMIE TSENG!!!
After more than a few notes and urgent messages from our blog community and students at TKC alma mater UMKC . . . We FINALLY decided to do a bit of followup on a subject that has inspired a great many questions and far too much gossip.
The best move was to go directly to the source . . .
Here's the message we sent to UNews editor Esmie Tseng at the urging of our blog community and in hopes of reaching out without being creepy . . . Always a TKC goal:
"Writing to ask, if you're the same Esmie who is the subject of this article from The Pitch: Is Esmie Evil?"
Brief aside, the BRILLIANT ARTICLE BY FORMER KANSAS CITY NEWS NADIA PFLAUM is the DEFINITIVE reporting on the story of a gruesome local murder and the ensuing controversy.
Here's the most relevant deet that set the stage for ensuing drama:
"The victim died from multiple stab wounds, and the limited details that have been made public suggest that the crime scene spread through several rooms in the house. What investigators found was grim enough that the Johnson County District Attorney filed a motion to try Esmie in adult court."
The response we got from the all-grown-up UMKC newsie in training Esmie Tseng's e-mail:
"I would rather not talk about the events from over 11 years ago as I am trying to rebuild my life and move on peacefully."
Fair enough.
What we do know for sure is that kangaroo gossiping isn't any match for the writing of a young woman who is easily the most talented Kansas City newsie in training we've read in years. Hate to admit it but we still read the Unews regularly and long after graduating from the city college . . . Esmie is EASILY the most talented reporter at UMKC since sports talker Steve St. John once stalked the halls of the Kangaroo newspaper HQ.
And so, given that far more saccharine features from MSM are in the works, we close the door on this bit of coverage and wish Esmie Tseng the very best in her future endeavors that will most likely earn her widespread acclaim and many career opportunities beyond the small town Kansas City area . . . Which is exactly what so many friends and family had hoped.
