Just a quick note for tonight about an ongoing Downtown Kansas City Convention Hotel development plan that has proven completely unsuccessful at attracting investors beyond City Hall.

KANSAS CITY INSIDERS REVEAL THAT COUNCIL LEANS TOWARD KILLING THE DOWNTOWN CONVENTION HOTEL PROJECT BEFORE DEVELOPERS ASK FOR MORE MONEY!!!
Our blog community and several of the critics of the project revealed that finding investors would be a tricky proposal and so far there is little sign of progress despite a promise of a Spring groundbreaking ceremony.
Now . . .
- Costs at the American Hereford Association have risen significantly.
- A competing project from Marriot is gaining steam and garnering approval from the Council behind the scenes.
- Developers are pushing for greater subsidy and opening themselves up to a SMACKDOWN from Council members against the project.
We've noted most of these pressing financial factors earlier this year and now the real danger is a move to keep the project going despite skepticism raging at City Hall during the holiday season when everybody is strapped for cash.
And so . . .
While "breaking up" during the holidays is hard . . . Our blog community reveals that City Council is now looking for a way to get this project off the books before the new year.
And this has inspired our playlist tonight because it's still too early for Christmas songs . . .
