Behind the scenes a budget battle is raging in Jackson County and most political denizens are curious about the lack of coverage.
Other than what we've already posted. Here's a run down of the facts leading up to today's budget battle . . .
- The County typically finishes their budget on the first week in December. The budget should turned in by the end of the year and the deadline is quickly approaching.
- Funding for the crisis at the jail is destroying this year's budget and the source a great deal of bickering. They're still using dangerous pad locks to secure doors that continue to open up the County to more liability.
- Exec Frank White has been missing in action throughout most of this discussion and now that it's crunch time . . . His administration is in panic mode.
Here's the first quote from a message which informs us that Frank & fam were recently enjoying a fancy junket during the tense part of budget talks . . .
"He's back. Started meeting with legislators yesterday afternoon. County has never had a budget this late and he JUST started meeting with legislators. Wow."

Here's an even better line from a KICK-ASS COURTHOUSE INSIDER regarding the current talks . . .
"The County is on auto-pilot and the legislators really hate that way that Frank's Chief of Staff Caleb Clifford is dealing with them. For all of their faults, Mike & Kathryn were front and center during budget time and they would stop by every one of the legislators to iron out any problems well before the budget vote. Frank was great playing for the Royals but he has dropped the ball on this budget and created a crisis because he's rather be a celebrity than do the work of an elected leader. At a time when the County is facing a lot of challenges, the hands-off approach of Frank White just isn't cutting it."
Again, what's troubling local politicos and people connected to the County is that media isn't asking Exec Frank White many questions about his "hands-off" approach and or budget deets that have the Courthouse confronting an end-of-the-year deadline.
Developing . . .
