In fairness to both sides, our blog community was FIRST to preview the petition and demands of animal rights protesters after a Saturday night carriage flip caused injury and ejected a passenger.
So far, almost 15k people have signed the effort to encourage Mayor and Council to ban Plaza carriage rides. But no citation will be issued after the accident this weekend.

A COUNTER PETITION AND SPIRITED SUPPORT OF PLAZA HORSE DRAWN CARRIAGE RIDES CLAIMS ATTACKS AGAINST THE ANIMALS!!!
Here is the counter petition that has a few supporters but nowhere near as many animal rights activists:

From SHOOTING AT THE HORSES & DRIVERS with BB guns to screaming profanities and antagonizing them, the REAL problem is the HUMANS WHO BEHAVE LIKE WILD ANIMALS.
Interestingly, even in the face of increasing violent mob chaos, the teams continue to happily do their jobs with grace & calm 99.9% of the time. We could take a lesson from the work horse playbook… Demand better behavior FROM THE HUMANS who run wild across the Plaza and clog the streets with chaos and hysterics, and we all will be better off.
