While the civic elite and local power brokers tout the benefits of so-called local control . . . Residents remain skeptical and this note from our blog community offers a glimpse of the hard questions that the petition effort must confront. Take a look:
"Is turning the Police dept. over to the same people who installed illegal red light cameras just to raise revenue a good idea? Who cut the Police budget and spent $100 million to built a tourist streetcar line? Who want $800 million in bonds and a tax increase with no idea where the money will go? Who respond to the highest murder rate in years with a committee of do-gooders? Is that who you want to protect you from bad guys? Inquiring minds want to know."
