KCPD STARTS RECRUITING EFFORT!!! THE TKC SUNDAY QUESTION: WILL MORE POLICE ON LOCAL STREETS CURB THE HISTORIC KANSAS CITY 2016 HOMICIDE SPREE?!?

First and foremost, here's a bit of GOOD NEWS for locals interested in helping this town and residents hoping to see more security for local neighborhoods.

Check this note on the start of a recruiting effort from local police:

"Interested in being a KCPD officer or know someone who is? Our next open testing dates are Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 28 and 29, at our Police Academy, 6885 N.E. Pleasant Valley Rd. The written test is Jan. 28, and the physical abilities test is Jan. 29. (You can see our physical abilities test course below.) Registration is from 7 to 7:50 a.m. both days with testing beginning promptly at 8 a.m. You do not need to register in advance. For more information, see our law enforcement hiring process page . . ."

However, like it or not, there's still some controversial aspects of this effort. Critics of police and Mayor Sly James often note that public safety accounts for a hefty portion of the city's budget already, KCPD has recently faced cuts and have been trying to more with less . . . Finally, social justice critics and activists against deadly police shootings have continually demanded reform of local law enforcement tactics.

In fairness and because it's a fact . . . A decline in police on local streets has preceded and, some say, facilitated the horrific rise in crime and violence in Kansas City this year.

We bring the question to our blog community . . .

WILL MORE POLICE HELP CURB THE HORRIFIC KANSAS CITY 2016 HOMICIDE UPTICK WHICH THREATENS TO CONTINUE TRENDING UPWARD?!?!

Again, there's empirical proof connecting recent cuts and corresponding deadly violence that proves the less police = more crime axiom to be correct . . . As always, you decide . . .
