Kansas City Westside Sacred Heart Shrine Feast Of Our Lady Of Guadalupe 2016

Early this morning without much fanfare or any notice from mainstream media there were hundreds of faithful Kansas City residents celebrating the Feast of our Lady Of Guadalupe.

The tradition is marked with early morning singing of Las MaƱanitas outside of the Westside's Sacred Heart Shrine on Avenida Cesar E Chavez in Kansas City, Missouri.

The mass is marked by trans-religious significance and speaks to the indigenous roots of Mexican heritage which was exceptionally significant this year given widespread controversy over native land rights in the United States.

Nevertheless, as an upcoming immigration crackdown confronts a great many ethnic communities in the U.S., the morning congregation celebrated a tradition that's every bit as politically and spiritually charged as the antics of the slightly less melodic so-called "compassionate Conservatives" who are equally engaged in a merciless culture war against this very kind of diversity practiced quietly by the faithful crowd who, ironically, worship the same God.
