The last time Berkley Riverfront Park came up in the news it was because some poor dead young woman was trapped in a well and later died after what was likely a horrific sexual assault.
Here's something that's not so bad but still pretty awful . . .
DESPITE RIDERSHIP TRENDING DOWNWARD BY NEARLY HALF . . . ARROGANT, CALLOUS AND TRULY AWFUL STREETCAR SUPPORTERS WANT TO CONTINUE THE TOY TRAIN RIDE WITHOUT RESPECT ENOUGH FOR A CITYWIDE VOTE!!!
Here's a look at their latest designs and a hope that a conversation via our blog community will have much more honesty than amateur urban planners and paid consultants manufacturing the illusion of support via heavily moderated or private channels . . . The backlash toward TKC is always pretty nasty on these posts but that's probably because streetcar activists can see their gravy train coming to an end given federal funds drying up as ridership plummets to embarrassing levels.
Urban Angle: Getting Riverfront Rail Right

Money line . . .
"While there appears to be great value in connecting the riverfront through streetcar expansion, exactly how and where the streetcar connects will have long term consequences for a whole host of community priorities. The study of streetcar expansion to the riverfront should evaluate and understand these consequences, and think creatively about how the riverfront can be connected to best support community goals for redevelopment and an expanding streetcar system."
Two problems . . .
RESIDENTS AND BIZ IN THE RIVER MARKET ARE ALREADY SCREAMING ABOUT THE STREETCAR KILLING THEIR BIZ . . . AND JUST WHO IN THE HELL IS GOING TO STOP AT ABANDONED BERKLEY RIVERFRONT PARK AS THESE DESIGNS SUGGEST???

Yet again, another Kansas City development scheme is in play ONLY THIS TIME WE KNOW THAT THAT STREETCAR SIMPLY ISN'T YIELDING AMAZING RESULTS ON ITS STARTER LINE.
Instead of working to improve their first gerrymandered, despicable, corrupt starter line . . . Selfish streetcar activists who prize their own consulting fees over any semblance of civic interest would rather keep this ponzi scheme going and direct City Hall cash without even having the decency to put this play to a citywide vote.
You decide . . .
