The Jackson County Executive is taking heat for an elite Kansas City event with luxury accommodations slated for tonight.

The holiday season kicks-off in true Jackson County-style eyebrow-raising fashion with a questionable holiday "reception" for Frank White that is being bankrolled completely by some unnamed and "anonymous benefactors". Forget for a moment that the County's ethics laws make any gift of over $100 to any County elected official illegal! The real gift is for anyone lucky enough to snag an invitation to this exclusive soiree on the Plaza. The bill for this event will weigh in at well over $20,000. It's fantastic to see the holiday season kicked-off in such grand style with one of this areas top politicians "gifting" to himself over $20,000 in perks and swag paid for, indirectly and discreetly of course, by the people of Jackson County.
The debate: Usually, even on the invite, there's info about sponsors and a lot of documentation to keep things on the up and up. Additionally, these luxury digs don't exactly reinforce the County Exec's image as a man of the people or a working-class baseball hero.
